Te Atatu Men’s Choir
We were very pleased to have the Te Atatu Men’s Choir come
and perform an impressive repertoire of songs for our residents.
They sang classics from Les Miserablés, The Pirates of Penzance
(in which the two lead singers wore constable’s hats), and
everyone’s favourite Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.
Ann and Alan are back from their holiday and busy catching up on
their work. Their English Summer holiday treated them very well
with no rain for the whole month they were away.
This month residents have enjoyed bus and van trips around the Waitakeres,
Devonport and the Auckland City waterfront.
The Peacehaven team’s winning streak has continued with another
two Round Robins won.
Change to asset thresholds for residential care subsidy
NOTE: if you are already receiving a Residential Care Subsidy this
note does not affect you and you do not need to do anything.
Each year the District Health Board adjusts the subsidy thresholds
with the new thresholds coming into effect on the 1st of July.
The value of assets that you may retain (asset threshold) and still
be eligible for subsidised residential care from 1-7-09 are as follows:
| |
Asset Level
|
| A single or widowed person in care |
$190,000 |
| Couples with both partners in care |
$190,000 |
| Couples with one partner in care |
Either $95,000 (house and care remains exempt) Or $190,000
total assets |
The changes to the asset thresholds may mean that result of your
means assessment has changed and you may qualify for a residential
care subsidy. This means that the amount that you pay for your residential
care could change.
Please contact the Residential Care Line 0800 737 777 if you have
any queries about this.
Change to contribution by Private Paying Residents
As from the 1st of July 2009 the District Health Board has adjusted
the fee charged for contracted care services. I will be individually
contacting all residents that are affected by this change.
