Only When I Dream

Last month the set designer from Drama 4 Kids (who meet in the Community Centre) came to Peacehaven looking to borrow an old walker for a musical they were putting on. We were able to provide her with one and were thanked with some free tickets. Over 70 children were in the cast of “Only When I Dream,” about an elderly woman with memory loss whose past comes to life when she dreams. Eight residents were lucky enough to attend and they all said they really enjoyed the singing of these young entertainers.

Commonwealth Games

The residents loved watching the New Zealand team compete in the shot-put, running, swimming and the gymnastics. A medal tally was displayed in the corridor as well as a list of Commonwealth countries and their flags.

Summer is on its Way

I know it is hard to believe some days but summer is definitely on its way and that means Barbeque Time.

If you would like to include Mum or Dad into your family BBQ party just remember that you can have your BBQ at Peacehaven. There is a BBQ set up in the Gazebo on the front lawn so that you can bring all your goodies and then have Mum or Dad come outside to join in the family fun in the gazebo.

Evergreens Concert

The Evergreens Concert is put together by five local churches for the senior citizens of Blockhouse Bay. It is held twice a year and is always a hit. This time round we transported eight residents up to Blockhouse Bay Baptist. Pieces were played on the keyboard, piano, saxophone and violin. Sarah Patten, the Vicar from the Church of the Saviour shared some devotions.  Afterward a nice light lunch was enjoyed by all.

Other Outings

Bus and van trip outings this month have included Mission Bay and the CBD, Takapuna and Lake Pupuke, Eden Park to see the renovations, up Mt Victoria and One Tree Hill.

Family Christmas Party

Just a reminder that our Residents Family Christmas Party will be held on the 25th of November from 4:30. Finger food dinner will be served- please RSVP by Thursday the 18th to Rebekah (09 627 8653 or officemanager@peacehaven.co.nz) so we have an idea of how many we need to cater for.

We have a couple of items in store to delight you with but we still have room in our program for more (poems, songs, skits etc) if you have something up your sleeve that you would like to contribute

Christmassy Items Wanted

If you have any old Christmas Cards or decorations you want to dispose of, we would love to have them for craftwork. The residents have begun their Christmas craft with some little pyramid shaped tree decorations.
